Argile Chapman Arbogast

Argile Chapman Arbogast, age 96, of Buckeye, died Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at Hilltop Center in Beckley.

Born September 26, 1912, at Arbovale he was a son of the late Walter and Margie Beard Arbogast.

Argile was the owner/operator of the Western Auto Store in Marlinton for a number of years. He was a founder and first president of the Briery Mountain Hunt Club and the Pocahontas County Horseman’s Association, member of the NRA, former member of the Pocahontas County Board of Education, member of Marlinton First Church of the Nazarene and attended Trinity Baptist Church. He was an army veteran of World War II and was an avid bear hunter for more than 50 years.

In addition to his parents, his brothers, Richard and Ralph Arbogast, sisters, Opal Keen and Marie Kramer preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lucille Jackson Arbogast; two sons, Lloyd G. Arbogast, and wife, Kathy, of Buckeye, and Larry A. Arbogast, and wife, Marcia, of Scarbro; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held Sunday, May 3, at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Aaron Trigg officiating. Interment was in Ruckman Cemetery.
